Hollow Knight Silksong Witch Crest Location: How to Unlock and Use It

The Witch Crest in Hollow Knight Silksong is one of the most rewarding and complex late-game charms you can unlock. Unlike other crests that appear early, this one requires deep exploration of Bilewater, multiple questlines, and tough choices before Hornet finally claims it.

How to Reach Bilewater in Hollow Knight Silksong

To start your journey toward the Witch Crest, you’ll first need access to Bilewater, a late-game area southeast of the Whispering Vaults.

  1. Purchase the Bilewater map from Shakra for 90 Rosaries.

  2. Travel up the Grand Bellway, then east through The Stage and into the Vaults.

  3. In the Vaults’ lower section, locate a hidden path above the eastern exit.

  4. Break open the wall using the Clawline Ancestral Art, then descend into Bilewater.

Inside Bilewater, progress deeper until you encounter the Twisted Bud, a small, crying creature. Picking it up triggers the first stage of the quest.

Delivering the Twisted Bud to Greyroot

  • Before you can hand over the Bud, you must first complete the Rite of the Pollip quest by destroying six Pollip flowers to obtain the Pollip Fruit.
  • Once this is done, deliver the Bud to Greyroot in Shellwood.
  • In a grim twist, Greyroot infects Hornet, setting the stage for the second part of the quest and granting you access to the Rite of Rebirth.

Chapel Escape and Meeting Yarnby

After a key cutscene at the Chapel of the Witch, Hornet escapes and makes her way into Greymoor.

  • On the western edge of Greymoor lies a locked bellhouse, where you’ll encounter Yarnby, a bee-like NPC.
  • Yarnby begins the Infestation Operation questline, which ties directly to curing Hornet and ultimately unlocking the Witch Crest.

The Infestation Operation Quest

Yarnby sends you toward Sinner’s Road, where you must locate Benjin and Crull.

  • This area is marked by dangling cages, with the two NPCs found near the upper eastern stretch.
  • They sell you Steel Spines for 260 Rosaries — a key item required to complete the cure.

Once you return with the Steel Spines, Yarnby initiates a cutscene where Hornet’s infection is resolved. At the end of this sequence, she receives the Witch Crest.

Witch Crest Description and Effects

The Witch Crest is designed for powerful late-game builds.

  • Slot Configuration: 3 blue slots + 2 red slots
  • In-game description:
“Whip the needle in sweeping swings. Leech the life of foes through twisted roots.”

With it equipped, Hornet’s attacks gain wider sweeping arcs and apply a life-leech effect, allowing her to heal while dealing damage.

It becomes even stronger when paired with Memory Lockets, making it ideal for DPS-heavy playstyles with built-in sustain.

Unlocking the Witch Crest in Hollow Knight Silksong isn’t easy, but it’s one of the most rewarding quests in the game. The journey through Bilewater, Greyroot’s betrayal, and Yarnby’s cure create one of the richest narrative and gameplay experiences Silksong has to offer.

For players seeking late-game offensive power and survivability, the Witch Crest is a must-have charm that elevates Hornet’s combat potential.
