Normally, Hornet fills her spool by attacking, which powers abilities like Bind. With a Silk Heart, once the spool empties, one notch automatically regenerates, providing a valuable second wind. There are only three Silk Hearts in Hollow Knight Silksong, and each comes with a unique challenge.
In this guide, we’ll cover all Silk Hearts in Hollow Knight Silksong, their exact locations, and tips to claim them.

First Silk Heart Location: The Marrow
The first Silk Heart lies hidden in The Marrow, though you won’t be able to reach it immediately. The path leading to it is blocked by thick silk strands.
- Required Ability: Silk Spear (found in Mosshome)
Steps:
Return to The Marrow once you’ve acquired the Silk Spear.
From Bone Bottom, climb upward to the crossroads.
Defeat the Bell Beast, the guardian of this upgrade.
Touch the large Silk orb it drops — Hornet will be pulled into a strange Silk realm.
Inside, collapsing platforms force you to move quickly upward. Strike a lever repeatedly to raise it higher, climb further, and at the very top, you’ll secure the first Silk Heart.

Second Silk Heart Location: The Unravelled in Whiteward
The second Silk Heart is tied to the eerie Whiteward area, but reaching it requires a bit of preparation.
Step 1: Find the White Key
- Head to Songclave, the small town near the First Temple in the Citadel’s northeast.
- Continue past the temple entrance to find the White Key on the ground near a fence.
Step 2: Unlock Whiteward
- Use the White Key at the Citadel lift to gain access.
Step 3: Obtain the Surgeon’s Key
- In Whiteward, move upward and right until you reach a split.
- Take the left path, break the wall block, and use the Clawline to reach a hanging lever.
- This grants you the Surgeon’s Key.
- Use the key to unlock the chamber of The Unravelled, the boss of Whiteward.
- Defeat the boss, and climb further into the chamber to claim the second Silk Heart.
Just like the first, Hornet faints temporarily and enters a short platforming trial before fully obtaining it.
Third Silk Heart Location: Lace in Cogwork Core
The final Silk Heart is tied to Lace within the Cogwork Core.
How to Reach Cogwork Core:
- From the Choral Chambers near The Cradle, ride the elevator and push into the core’s machinery-filled depths.
Unlocking the Map:
- Head down and left at the entrance to a glowing doorway with a nearby bench.
- Inside, activate the bench and reveal the Cogwork Core map by stepping on a pressure plate.
The Boss Fight:
- Progress deeper until you encounter Lace for the second time.
- Defeating her rewards you with not just the third Silk Heart, but also the White Knight.
Again, Hornet faints briefly and completes a small trial before claiming the upgrade.
The Lore Behind Silk Hearts
Each time Hornet awakens after claiming a Silk Heart, the game presents the cryptic line:
“…From our Silk… A child born loyal…”
This message ties the Silk Hearts into Hornet’s deeper connection with Silk, making them more than just power-ups — they are story-driven relics that emphasize her unique bond with the threads of Pharloom.
