How to Unlock PowerDrop in Borderlands 4
To start the PowerDrop mission, you must first complete Main Mission 6: Rush the Gate. Doing so grants access to The Launchpad, an Outbounder faction hub located in the Fadefields.
Once inside The Launchpad, head toward the fast travel station in the underground bunker. Look for a glowing neon “OPEN” sign. Monty, the quest giver, will be standing directly beneath it. Talk to him, and the PowerDrop gambling challenge begins.
PowerDrop Quest Walkthrough
This mission has a simple three-step process — buy a Power Core, throw it into the gambling machine, and claim your prize.
Step 1: Buy a Power Core
- After speaking with Monty, head down the staircase beside him.
- Halfway down, you’ll find a glowing green control panel.
- Interact with it to buy a Power Core for $500.
This Power Core acts as your gambling token. Each attempt requires a new one, so be ready to spend some cash if luck isn’t on your side.
Step 2: Use the Gambling Machine
- Approach the nearby gambling machine.
- Look for a chute glowing with yellow light and flashing arrows pointing to it.
- Throw your Power Core into the chute.
The core will fall into one of three slots at the bottom:
- Center slot (Jackpot): Unlocks the red reward chest.
- Side slots (Runner-up): Smaller loot compared to the jackpot.
Step 3: Claim Your Reward
If you manage to hit the jackpot slot, a glowing red reward chest will spawn on the right side of the machine. Open it to receive your loot and officially complete the quest. Monty will congratulate you, and you’ll gain base rewards along with whatever drops from the chest.
Tips & Tricks for PowerDrop
- Always keep spare cash — each Power Core costs $500, and you may need several attempts.
- The outcome is completely chance-based, so you might hit the jackpot on your first try… or after 20 attempts.
- The quest is one-time only — once you’ve hit the jackpot, PowerDrop cannot be replayed.
- Smaller rewards can still be useful if you’re early in the game.
PowerDrop Quest Rewards
Completing the quest nets you a mix of guaranteed and random rewards:
Base Rewards
- XP (scales with your story progression)
- Cash
- Eridium
Equipment Rewards
- Random guns (up to Purple and Legendary quality)
- Gear (up to Purple and Legendary quality)
The Borderlands 4 PowerDrop mission is short, fun, and offers great loot for the time investment. Whether you hit the jackpot early or have to grind a few Power Cores, the rewards make it worthwhile. If you’re exploring The Launchpad and spot Monty under the neon sign, don’t skip this quirky side activity — it might just net you your next Legendary drop.
