In Borderlands 4, Safehouses
are more than just checkpoints — they serve as Fast-Travel locations and reward you with valuable SDU (Storage Deck Upgrade) Tokens. One of
the earliest and slightly tricky ones to unlock is the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse in Carcadia Burn, which requires you to track down a hidden Datapad before it can be activated.
If you’re struggling to find it, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to reach the Safehouse, where to locate the Datapad, and what rewards you’ll get for securing it.

How to Reach the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse
Before you can attempt to capture this
Safehouse, you’ll need to unlock the Carcadia
Burn region in Kairos. This bleak zone is home to the Ripper Queen, a boss you’ll encounter as
part of the main storyline.
The Makeshift Chalet Safehouse is located in the Lopside sub-region, positioned on the far western edge near the water. Since this is the first Safehouse in Carcadia Burn, it’s recommended to secure it early for easier Fast-Travel access across the region.

of the large building topped with an antenna.

fence nearby.
3.
Drop down carefully (avoid jumping, or you risk
overshooting).
4.
At the bottom, you’ll spot a small area with a crate.
5.
On top of this crate sits the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse Datapad.
After collecting the Datapad, use your Movement Abilities to climb back up to the Safehouse.
