The Frangible Legendary SMG in
Borderlands 4 is one of the strangest weapons you’ll come across.
Unlike most legendary guns, it displays no
visible damage numbers, perks, or manufacturer parts on its stat
sheet. The only way to figure out its traits is by actually using it in combat.
In my case, the weapon rolled with Torgue’s Sticky Magazine and Tediore-style accessory parts — though it
can vary for each drop. While its hidden stats make it look like a potential
powerhouse, the truth is a bit different.

How to Get the Frangible Legendary SMG in
Borderlands 4
Acquiring the Frangible in Borderlands 4 is entirely RNG-based. As of
now, it doesn’t belong to any fixed boss
loot pool or dedicated activity.
·
I personally got mine while farming the Vault of Radix,
·
A friend of mine pulled one from a golden chest,
·
Other players report random drops from boss
caches.
Since there’s no guaranteed farm, the best
approach is to:
·
Play on Ultimate
Vault Hunter Mode to improve legendary drop chances.
· Farm easy bosses repeatedly, since their caches may drop the Frangible SMG.
Is the Frangible Worth Using?
Calling the Frangible “broken” can be
misleading. Yes, it deals damage even though its stats are invisible — but
compared to other legendary SMGs in
Borderlands 4, it simply doesn’t hold up.
When I tested it against Radix, the gun failed to break half the boss’s shield, even with Vex’s
vampire build and the correct elemental matchup. This makes it more of a collector’s item or meme gun than a
serious endgame weapon.
Most players will likely stash it in the bank rather than use it in their main build.
Best Frangible Legendary SMG Roll in Borderlands 4
Since most of its stats are hidden, there’s no
clear way to determine a god roll
Frangible. The one element you can
look out for is the elemental burn effect,
which influences its damage type.
So far, drops have included:
·
Shock
(e.g., mine had an 8% chance to deal zero Shock DPS)
·
Incendiary
·
Presumably Cryo and other elements
While the elemental type makes a difference in combat, the gun’s overall DPS remains underwhelming compared to other top-tier SMGs.
The Borderlands
4 Frangible Legendary SMG is one of the game’s strangest weapons —
with hidden stats, inconsistent performance, and RNG-based acquisition. While
it’s a fun novelty and worth keeping for collection purposes, don’t expect it
to outperform the game’s stronger legendary SMGs.
If you do get your hands on one, look for the elemental burn variant that best fits your build. Otherwise, consider it more of a quirky loot piece than a must-have weapon.
