Step 1: Find the Bo Master
After finishing the Prison Break quest, your next task leads you west of Sumoto, near Kannoji Temple on Awaji Island. From the temple, head northeast to discover the Bo master instructing a student.
Speaking with him begins the quest in earnest. He provides you with the Bo weapon, unlocking its combat system. However, before you can claim the key, you’ll need to prove your skill through training.
Step 2: Train with the Bo
The Bo introduces a stance-based combat system, requiring you to practice multiple postures. The training exercise teaches three key attack styles:
-
Neutral Posture (x3 attacks)
-
PC: Hold Left Click + Left Shift, then release.
-
Xbox: Hold RB/RT, then release.
-
-
High Posture (x3 attacks)
-
PC: Hold Left Click + Left Shift, scroll up, then release.
-
Xbox: Hold RB/RT, then press LB before releasing.
-
-
Low Posture (x3 attacks)
-
PC: Hold Left Click + Left Shift, scroll down, then release.
-
Xbox: Hold RB/RT, then press LT before releasing.
-
After successfully completing each stance attack, report back to the Bo master.
Step 3: Defeat the Bo Master
The final test is a duel against the Bo master himself. Use everything you’ve learned:
- Switch stances fluidly to counter his movements.
- Low posture is especially effective, as it can knock him down, leaving him open to a powerful ground strike.
- Make use of parries and dodges to minimize damage while creating openings.
Once the Bo master’s health bar is depleted, you’ll earn his respect and the knowledge of Tsuyu’s key’s hidden location, said to be above the Mountainside Ruins.
Quest Completion
With the duel concluded, the Way of the Bo quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji comes to an end. Completing it seamlessly transitions into the next story mission: A Long Lost Key.
