7 Worst Legendaries in Borderlands 4 You Should Avoid Using

Borderlands 4 features a massive arsenal of weapons — from explosive launchers to energy-based SMGs. However, not every Legendary lives up to its name. Some are flashy collectibles that simply underperform in real combat, especially on Ultimate Vault Hunter (UVH) difficulty.

Here’s a list of the worst Legendaries in Borderlands 4 that you may want to skip unless you’re collecting for fun.

Note: This list is subjective and based on in-game testing and player opinions.

1) Frangible

Unique Effect: Unknown (possibly Torgue sticky magazine)

The Frangible is arguably the worst Legendary weapon in Borderlands 4. This SMG pulls features from multiple manufacturers but somehow manages to have zero listed damage.

While you can still see damage numbers pop up during combat, they barely reach 500 per shot — making it useless for any serious build. It’s more of a bugged novelty gun than a viable weapon. Despite its strange mechanics and random manufacturer parts like Torgue stickies and Tediore throw reloads, the Frangible doesn’t pack any punch.

Verdict: Worth collecting, not using.

2) Cold Shoulder

Unique Effect: “Iced Out” – Fires cryo missiles that track random enemies.

The Cold Shoulder sounds promising — a Torgue assault rifle that shoots Cryo rounds and grants a temporary shield when aiming. But in practice, its tracking system is a mess. The bullets lock onto random enemies, causing huge DPS loss during boss fights.

If Gearbox added an option to disable tracking while scoped, this gun could become viable. Until then, it’s better left in the stash.

Verdict: Freezes enemies — and your damage output.

3) Budget Deity

Unique Effect: “D.O.P.E. Buoys” – Spawns two combo orbs that activate Atlas Target Lock.

The Budget Deity is a Tediore pistol that reloads by spawning explosive orbs. Unfortunately, the orbs deal negligible AoE damage and have a tiny explosion radius.

While it can trigger Atlas Target Lock, the short duration makes it impractical. The Kaoson SMG outperforms it in every way.

Verdict: A “deity” in name only.

4) Gamma Void

Unique Effect: “Radiation Exposure” – Creates a singularity for 10s, dealing 40% Radiation damage over time.

On paper, the Gamma Void looks like an excellent crowd-control ordnance. It can pull enemies into a singularity and deal Radiation DoT. In practice, it’s too slow and inconsistent.

With a 35-second cooldown and a tiny AoE, only smaller enemies get pulled, making it useless against larger foes and bosses. A shorter cooldown or more charges could make it worthwhile, but for now, it’s just flashy dead weight.

Verdict: Great concept, poor execution.

5) Atling Gun

Unique Effect: “Whistler” – Fires homing bullets at 40 rounds per second.

Despite its intimidating fire rate, the Atling Gun suffers from slow bullet travel time and low per-shot damage. The lack of meaningful scaling turns it into a weapon that burns ammo fast with little reward.

It can be useful for stacking certain weapon buffs, but better alternatives like the Inkling make it obsolete.

Verdict: Sounds powerful, shoots disappointment.

6) Bloody Lumberjack

Unique Effect: “Timber” – Shoots bouncing saw blades that deal delayed double damage.

The Bloody Lumberjack could’ve been amazing — bouncing saw blades and double hits sound fun. Unfortunately, the damage output doesn’t scale well in late-game content.

Even with alt-fire options like Atlas Tracker Grenades, it remains a mid-tier novelty weapon. If Gearbox added a Bleed debuff, it could finally live up to its potential.

Verdict: Cool name, mediocre damage.

7) Prince Harming

Unique Effect: “Pamplemousse” – Damages user per shot while granting Overshield on kills.

The Prince Harming is a weapon that harms you as much as your enemies. Every shot inflicts self-damage, and the Overshield gain doesn’t compensate enough unless you run a life leech or tank build.

Only Vex can reliably use this weapon, making it one of the most impractical Legendaries in Borderlands 4.

Verdict: Royal pain, not royal power.

Not every Legendary in Borderlands 4 lives up to the hype. While some weapons like Frangible and Gamma Void might be fun to test, their lack of utility and scaling makes them inefficient for higher difficulties.

Unless you’re a collector, it’s best to leave these in your vault and stick to proven performers.
