Kona Reeves, a former WWE star, has officially moved on from full-time wrestling and found a new career outside the ring. The 34-year-old performer, who spent nearly seven years under contract with WWE, now works as a stunt performer at Disney World.
Reeves signed with WWE back in 2014, less than a year after starting his wrestling journey. Despite his long tenure, his career struggled to gain momentum due to multiple character and gimmick changes. In August 2021, Reeves was released from the company as part of budget cuts.
Although his WWE career never reached the heights many expected, Reeves has now embraced a fresh opportunity in the entertainment industry.
“I’m enjoying having fun right now. I work full-time over at Disney World. I’m a stunt performer at the Indiana Jones Show. I beat up Indiana Jones for a living,” Reeves revealed in a recent interview with MuscleMan Malcom.
This marks a significant shift for Reeves, who only wrestles in a handful of independent matches each year. His new career at Disney World seems to have solidified his decision to step away from the grind of full-time wrestling.
A Missed WWE Main Roster Opportunity
Earlier this year, Reeves spoke about how close he came to joining WWE’s main roster. He was slated for a SmackDown call-up in 2021, but the opportunity was pulled at the last minute.
The situation became even more disheartening when Reeves was informed of his release just hours later.
“The day before, I got a call from John Cone and they were like, ‘Hey, something changed. We’re not gonna send you to Houston this time but we’ll give you a call.’ I went to the PC the next day, and the coaches asked what happened. Unfortunately, later that day, I got the call that I was released,” Reeves explained.
Reeves’ final WWE match had taken place in February 2020, where he was quickly defeated by Keith Lee in a squash bout.
Kona Reeves Today
Since leaving WWE, Kona Reeves has slowed down his wrestling schedule and focused on his passion for performing. His role at Disney World allows him to showcase his athleticism in front of large audiences — just like he did in wrestling, but without the grueling travel schedule.
While fans may never see him back as a full-time WWE Superstar, Reeves has clearly found happiness in his new chapter, proving that life after wrestling can still be rewarding.
