Ingredients Needed to Brew Potion of Regeneration

Ingredients Needed to Brew Potion of Regeneration

To craft a Potion of Regeneration, you’ll need access to the Nether and a few specific ingredients. Here’s what to gather:

Essential Items:

  • Brewing Stand
Crafted using a blaze rod (from Blazes in Nether Fortresses) and 3 cobblestone.
  • Blaze Powder
Made from blaze rods, it's the fuel required to run your brewing stand.
  • Glass Bottles + Water
Right-click any water source with glass bottles to fill them.
  • Nether Wart
Found in Nether Fortresses, this is used to create an Awkward Potion, the base for most                         brewable effects.
  • Ghast Tear
Dropped by Ghasts in the Nether. Tricky to collect since they often float over lava. Needed to                 turn the Awkward Potion into a Potion of Regeneration.

How to Brew Potion of Regeneration

How to Brew Potion of Regeneration

Once you’ve collected all your ingredients, it’s time to start brewing.

Brewing Steps:

  1. Fuel the Brewing Stand

    • Place blaze powder in the fuel slot of the brewing stand.

  2. Create Awkward Potions

    • Add Nether Wart to a water-filled bottle.

    • Wait for it to finish brewing; it becomes an Awkward Potion.

  3. Add Ghast Tear

    • Place a ghast tear in the top slot.

    • This turns the Awkward Potion into a Potion of Regeneration (45 seconds by default).

How to Upgrade the Potion of Regeneration

Want better effects? You can modify your potions with Redstone or Glowstone Dust.

Increase Duration (Regeneration I – 1:30)

  • Add Redstone Dust to extend the effect to 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  • Healing rate: ½ heart every 2.5 seconds.

Increase Potency (Regeneration II – 0:22)

  • Add Glowstone Dust to make the potion regenerate faster.
  • Healing rate: ½ heart every 1.2 seconds for 22 seconds.

You can’t combine both redstone and glowstone in the same potion. Choose either duration or strength.

Splash & Lingering Variants

You can also convert your Potion of Regeneration into throwable or area-effect forms:

  • Splash Potion of Regeneration: Add gunpowder to throw it at yourself or allies.
  • Lingering Potion of Regeneration: Add dragon’s breath to make it linger in an area for others to walk through.

Best Use Cases

  • During boss fights (e.g., Ender Dragon, Wither)
  • While exploring dangerous places like Bastions, Nether Fortresses, or Ancient Cities
  • When running low on food and can't regenerate naturally
  • Great for PvP combat in multiplayer

Final Tips

  • Ghast Tears are rare—carry a bow and aim carefully when fighting Ghasts.
  • Always carry 2–3 Potions of Regeneration before heading into the Nether or End.
  • Want even more healing? Combine this with Golden Apples or Beacons.

The Potion of Regeneration is a lifesaver when used strategically. Whether you're on a long expedition or battling mobs, having one ready could be the difference between survival and respawn.
