What Is the Copper Golem in Minecraft?

The Copper Golem is a brand-new utility mob added in Minecraft Bedrock Edition’s Fall Drop 3 (2025). It’s currently only available via the experimental gameplay toggle, and not featured in the Java Edition. Designed to assist players in item management, this mob turns copper blocks into a working sorting system in your base.

Unlike Iron Golems, Copper Golems don’t spawn naturally. Players need to manually craft them.

How to Craft a Copper Golem

Crafting the Copper Golem involves mining, smelting, and assembling a few key components:

Materials Required:

• 1 Copper Block
• 1 Carved Pumpkin

Step-by-Step Crafting Process:

1. Mine Raw Copper: Use a stone pickaxe or higher to mine raw copper from caves or copper veins (look for grey stone with orange-green specks).

2. Smelt Copper: Place the raw copper in a furnace to convert it into copper ingots.

3. Craft Copper Block: Use 9 copper ingots in a crafting table to create 1 Copper Block.

4. Get a Carved Pumpkin:

   • Find a pumpkin in grassy biomes.

   • Use shears to carve it.

5. Build the Golem:

   • Place the Copper Block on the ground.

   • Put the Carved Pumpkin directly on top.

Once placed correctly, the Copper Golem will spawn, and the copper block will turn into a Copper Chest, used in its sorting function.

What Does the Copper Golem Do?

The Copper Golem is a peaceful, utility-focused mob that automatically organizes and transfers items from a Copper Chest to nearby wooden chests.

Key Features:

• Picks up items from the Copper Chest beside it.
• Locates a wooden chest that already contains the same item.
• Transfers the item into that chest.
• If no matching item exists, it will place the item into an empty chest.
• Can carry and sort up to 16 stacks at once.

This makes it perfect for automated storage systems and base management.

How to Prevent Oxidation (Color Change)

As with all copper elements in Minecraft, the Copper Golem will oxidize over time, shifting from its original reddish-brown to a green-blue color.

To stop oxidation, use honeycomb on the golem. This "waxes" it, preserving its original color permanently.
