Life After Life Walkthrough – Step by Step
1. Investigate the Smoke
Start by leaving the Monastery through a window and checking your map. Head to the nearest objective marker where smoke is rising from a settlement.
Tip: Travel on foot but avoid direct fights with large groups of infected.
After crossing a small stream, you’ll reach a settlement filled with biters. Slip past them by climbing through a gap above the fence. Inside, Kyle briefly interacts with a survivor before moving on.
2. Head to the Town Hall
Your next destination is the Town Hall, where your allies may be hiding. You can run on foot, but there’s also a car nearby if you’d like to test your driving skills.
- Keep in mind fuel is scarce, so don’t rely heavily on the car.
- Parkour will be your best friend—climb rooftops to avoid hordes as you approach the large metal gate at the Town Hall.
Climb the gate and head inside. A cutscene will show Kyle finding a pistol on a fallen body—make sure to equip it for the next fight.
3. Clear the Town Hall
Inside, you’ll need to clear the infected before advancing the quest. Take out every zombie in the area to trigger another cutscene.
4. Boss Fight – Beat the Chimera Defect
The boss Defect, a Chimera, smashes through the window to challenge you.
- Moveset: Heavy ground stomp attacks that can knock you down.
- Strategy: Keep your distance and chip away at its health. Use firearms or ranged attacks when possible.
- Beast Meter: Once it’s filled, get close and unleash melee punches to quickly drain Defect’s HP.
With persistence, you’ll defeat Defect and earn a new Beast Skill Point.
5. Find the Sheriff
After the battle, survivors tell you that the Sheriff hasn’t returned from fixing the UV power supply.
- Head to the courtyard where you fought Defect.
- Climb the structure leading to the bell tower.
- Speak with a wounded ranger who points you towards the Sheriff.
Continue climbing the hatch and stairs until you reach the top of the tower. Here, you’ll finally meet the Sheriff—Florence—who asks for your help restoring power.
6. Restore the Power
Zipline down to the building below and fight off a zombie blocking the entrance. More infected may sneak up while you lockpick the door—stay alert.
Inside, activate the machine, but you’ll need to manually run a power cable.
-
Grab the cable from the nearby box.
-
Exit through the vent and navigate rooftops, clock hands, and ledges.
-
Return to Florence at the top of the tower.
-
Attach the cable to the plug behind her.
A long cutscene plays, concluding the Life After Life quest and setting the stage for the Sheriff’s storyline.
