Step 1: Speak to GenIVIV and the Town Leader
GenIVIV immediately asks you to wipe out the entire town. Instead of giving in, you speak with the town leader inside the central building’s spa. He agrees that life with GenIVIV is unbearable and asks you to take her away.
Step 2: Get GenIVIV Out of Embracer’s Bluff
Return to GenIVIV and explain the situation. She’s eager to leave and even jokes about “lifting the seat properly.” To help with the move, you’ll need Claptrap’s assistance.
Step 3: Use the Clap Signal
Climb to the top of the main building and activate the signal. Claptrap swoops in dramatically, revealing his long history with GenIVIV and how she became trapped as a toilet AI.
Step 4: Assist Claptrap
As Claptrap tries to free her, he gets stuck. Follow his instructions to separate their AIs. While successful, it doesn’t free GenIVIV completely—she still needs a proper body.
Step 5: Find GenIVIV a New Body
Head into the main house and smash a Broomba. Collect the drone and return to Claptrap. He installs GenIVIV into it, but her personality suddenly changes. She even asks you to slap her to “fix” the glitch. The Broomba breaks, leaving the problem unresolved.
Step 6: Clear the Order Depot and Recover Tech
Travel to the Order Depot, clear enemies, and find a new experimental drone body. This one can spawn Synth soldiers, offering GenIVIV more power.
Step 7: Two GenIVIVs?!
Claptrap accidentally copies GenIVIV’s AI instead of transferring it. Now there are two versions. The older one turns hostile, but since it’s inside a weak Broomba, you can destroy it quickly. Be prepared for reinforcements from the Order.
Step 8: Defeat the Order With GenIVIV’s Help
This time, the “new” GenIVIV fights alongside you, creating Synth soldiers to take down waves of Order forces. Once the dust settles, she decides to hunt down a local Ripper camp.
Step 9: Help GenIVIV Defeat the Rippers
Assist GenIVIV in clearing out the Ripper camp. This is one of the best XP farming spots in the mission, so take advantage of the enemy waves. Afterward, Claptrap decides GenIVIV is too unhinged and tries to “break up” with her.
Step 10: Final Boss Fight – Defeat GenIVIV
Heartbroken and furious, GenIVIV turns on you. Battle her drone body and summoned minions until she’s defeated. Collect both AI cores from the ground afterward—this reverts her back to her original self.
Step 11: The Final Choice – Take GenIVIV to Moxxi
Bring the cores to Moxxi, who offers two options:
- Erase GenIVIV (probably forever)
- Install her into a jukebox
Either way, the mission concludes here, but given Borderlands’ history with this AI, it’s likely she’ll make a return in some form.
