The Ancient Crawlers in Borderlands 4 are a unique open-world activity tied to Storage Deck Upgrades (SDUs). By powering these mechanical giants with nearby batteries, you’ll unlock SDU tokens and even earn exclusive vehicle cosmetics.
However, Crawlers don’t come easy—most are guarded by Rippers and Order enemies who have taken over the areas. You’ll need to clear them out (or sneak past) to capture your prize.

Fadefields Ancient Crawler Locations (4 Total)
Ancient Crawler #1 – Slugmetal Ditch
- Location: Near the smoking machine at Slugmetal Ditch.
- Battery: Found beside the structure with black smoke.
- Tip: Look left of the tallest structure for a grapple point to climb up.
Ancient Crawler #2 – The Roaming Pasture
- Location: Past Watershed Gate Bridge, en route to saving Zadra.
- Battery: Inside a vehicle parked near the Watershed.
- Tip: Expect enemies on every floor as you carry the battery up.
Ancient Crawler #3 – The Eminent Husk
- Location: Central arena.
- Battery: Placed right in the middle.
- Tip: Grab the battery, toss it to the Crawler, climb up, and claim your loot.
Ancient Crawler #4 – Pester’s Grotto
- Location: Near Wyclef’s Reprieve Safehouse.
- Battery: Hidden behind the Crawler.
- Tip: Toss the battery one floor above as you climb your way to the top.
Carcadia Burn Ancient Crawler Locations (3 Total)
Ancient Crawler #5 – The Belle
- Location: Lopside region, near Makeshift Chalet Safehouse.
- Battery: On top of the structure, guarded by Timekeeper’s soldiers.
- Tip: Clear enemies first, then throw the battery onto the higher platforms.
Ancient Crawler #6 – Crumpled Lurch
- Location: Tonnage Peel, near the Wreck of Cargonian.
- Battery: At the center, close to a large purple Eridium shard.
- Tip: Deposit on the opposite side to activate.
Ancient Crawler #7 – Wanton Tread
- Location: Deep inside Carcadia Burn, crawling with Rippers.
- Battery: At the far end of the map.
- Tip: Throw the battery carefully above the grapple point—don’t over-throw or it falls off.
Terminus Range Ancient Crawler Locations (4 Total)
Ancient Crawler #8 – The Great Work
- Location: One of the trickiest Crawlers in the game.
- Battery: Located far from the Crawler.
- Tip: Requires glide movement to reach the correct platform before powering it.
Ancient Crawler #9 – The Stonewarden
- Location: Center arena with nearby vehicles.
- Battery: Found in the middle of the arena.
- Tip: Defeat enemies, throw the battery up, and glide using the left wall climb toward the mountain.
Ancient Crawler #10 – Eureka Stane
- Location: Elevated area requiring gliding.
- Battery: Suspended on a floating platform.
- Tip: Climb the Crawler, glide to grab it, then glide back to power the vault.
Ancient Crawler #11 – Forgotten Cornerstone
- Location: Deep in the icy mountains.
- Battery: At the base of the Crawler.
- Tip: Classic parkour—throw the battery upward, climb, repeat until you reach the top.
