Airtel Users Can Now Claim Free Perplexity Pro for a Year via Airtel Thanks App

Perplexity AI, the cutting-edge AI-powered answer engine, has launched an exclusive offer for Airtel customers in India. In a move to expand its user base in one of the world’s largest internet markets, Perplexity is offering a one-year free subscription to Perplexity Pro—a premium AI assistant that normally costs $20/month (roughly ₹1,730).

This limited-time offer is available to all 360 million Airtel prepaid, postpaid, and broadband users via the Airtel Thanks app, valid until January 17, 2026.

What Is Perplexity Pro?

Perplexity Pro is a premium subscription tier of Perplexity AI, a conversational AI engine that provides real-time, trustworthy, and well-sourced answers across a wide range of topics. With the Pro tier, users unlock:

  • Faster responses
  • Higher daily usage limits
  • Deep research mode
  • AI assistant for professionals, students, and creators

It’s designed for users who need smarter, more detailed answers—whether you're researching for work, studying, or managing household tasks.

How Airtel Customers Can Get Free Perplexity Pro

Here’s how you can activate your free Perplexity Pro subscription as an Airtel user:

  1. Download or open the Airtel Thanks app (available on Android and iOS).

  2. Navigate to the “Rewards” section.

  3. Find the Perplexity Pro offer and tap “Claim Now.”

  4. Follow the prompts to sign in or create a Perplexity account.

Important: Your Perplexity Pro subscription won’t auto-renew. After the 12-month period, your account will downgrade to the free plan unless you upgrade manually.

To be eligible, users must remain active Airtel customers throughout the year.

Who Can Use the Offer?

The deal is open to:

  • Prepaid mobile customers
  • Postpaid mobile users
  • Airtel Xstream Fiber (broadband) subscribers

This marks Perplexity’s first telecom partnership in India, following earlier global deals with T-Mobile and SoftBank.

Why This Matters: Perplexity’s Big Push in India

India has quickly become a top priority for Perplexity AI. The company reports that:

  • India is among its top 4 countries by daily traffic
  • It ranks in the top 10 by revenue
  • Users are already engaging heavily with Pro Search and Deep Research features

Perplexity’s co-founder Aravind Srinivas says the Indian market has shown surprising enthusiasm to pay for AI tools, despite higher global pricing. The company also hinted at India-specific pricing for future rollouts.

Local Focus: Cricket, IPL & Regional Content

To better appeal to Indian users, Perplexity has started tailoring content for local interests:

  • Dedicated IPL page for scores, schedules & live updates
  • Enhanced content on TV shows, movies, and local news
  • Plans to add regional language support and localized results

“We’ve seen a huge spike in searches related to cricket. We want to make that experience even richer,” Srinivas said in an earlier interview.

Other Indian Partnerships

Earlier in 2025, Perplexity partnered with Paytm, integrating its AI engine into India’s most popular digital payments app. This new deal with Airtel further boosts the brand’s visibility among India’s massive mobile user base.

Backed by Big Names

Founded in 2022 by Aravind Srinivas, Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho, and Andy Konwinski, Perplexity AI has attracted heavyweights like NVIDIA and Jeff Bezos. The company is reportedly raising funds at a $14 billion valuation, following a previous $500M round that pegged its value at $9 billion
