The Echoes of the Storm quest
in Ghost of Yotei is a powerful
continuation of the Saito Brothers
storyline, blending emotional character development with intense
combat. What starts as a peaceful escort quickly escalates into stealth
missions, moral decisions, and a confrontation that pushes both your skills and
loyalty to the limit.
This guide walks you through each step of the Echoes of the Storm quest, including choices, stealth paths, and the climactic showdown with the Dragon — setting up the next major story mission, To Catch a Spider.
How to
Start the Echoes of the Storm Quest in Ghost of Yotei
After completing The Storm Breaks, travel to Benten Port. Here, you’ll encounter a Matsumae soldier on horseback who
officially triggers the Echoes of the Storm
quest. Follow him towards Matsumae Castle,
where Jubei is delivering his report and Kiku awaits nearby.
As Jubei handles his duties, Kiku invites you
on a walk — marking the emotional start of this chapter.
A Walk with Kiku
Kiku’s segment begins with a simple yet
heartfelt task: arranging flowers.
·
Pick three
flowers when prompted and place them in the vase.
This moment gives players deeper insight into Kiku’s personality and beliefs
through the symbolism of the blossoms.
Afterwards, the tone shifts. Kiku introduces
you to a rescued horse and leads
you toward the armory, where
locals are desperate for medicine. This sets up your first infiltration
mission.
Sneaking into the Armory
Atsu challenges Kiku’s motives in a brief
cutscene, but your dialogue choice doesn’t affect the outcome. Soon, you’ll be
tasked with breaking into the armory to retrieve supplies.
Follow these steps to navigate the stealth
sequence:
1.
Turn around and use
the first slackline to reach nearby scaffolding.
2.
Grapple the
second slackline to climb onto the rooftop.
3.
Drop down
to the platform and help Kiku up.
4.
Boost her into the storage room above — she can’t lift you, so find another
way.
5.
Squeeze through
the bamboo barricade to the left.
6.
Grapple across
the next gap and balance along the beam.
7.
Climb up
using the handholds marked in white.
8.
Enter
the storage room and reunite with Kiku.
Once you’ve secured the medicine, a cutscene will play where the
Matsumae soldiers catch you in the act.
Commander Wada’s
Orders
Despite being caught, Kiku’s quick thinking
saves you from punishment. Instead, you’re brought to Commander Wada, who assigns you a crucial mission — retake the Hadokate Lighthouse and sever
the Dragon’s line of control.
Now, the quest shifts gears into large-scale
combat.
Assault on the
Hadokate Lighthouse
Ride with Jubei and the Matsumae
troops toward the lighthouse.
·
Position yourself on the left side and use your Spyglass to scout.
·
Spot the Dragon,
tormenting captives within the compound.
When the battle begins:
·
Slide down
into the action.
·
Defeat
enemy soldiers and clear the
main gate.
The Dragon retreats, forcing you into a
high-stakes pursuit.
Hunting the Dragon
As you chase the Dragon, enemy gunners will open fire.
·
Use wooden
barricades for cover.
·
Shoot back
or dash in to eliminate threats.
Once the area is secure, rush inside the
lighthouse. A brief cutscene shows your final confrontation with the Dragon —
but he manages to escape, leaving the Hadokate
Lighthouse reclaimed by the Matsumae.
This victory concludes the Echoes of the Storm quest and directly leads
into To Catch a Spider, the next
major storyline mission.
